The Young Artist Performance Company (YAPC) is designed to introduce students to the process of rehearsing, designing, and performing. Students work as an ensemble to bring an established text to life. This class concludes with a performance for family and friends in our education center.
YAPC will be performing Margaret Cradmeier's Catalogue of Minor Yet Helpful Uncanny Abilities by Alan Haehnel. Margaret Cradmeier may not be the easiest person to get along with, but her message about people is ultimately hopeful: We do not need superheroes or magicians to accomplish the important tasks in life; we need people with “myhuas” (minor yet helpful uncanny abilities)!
Grades K-2
Saturdays 1:00-2:00pm

Students activate their imaginations using drama, movement, and design to explore the basics of theatrical storytelling. Class activities promote confidence, self-esteem, and creative expression while working on skills such as active listening, teamwork, and sharing.

Improvisation teaches collaborative problem-solving, encourages spontaneity, and builds self-confidence. This class is a fun way to explore the art form of Improvisation with minimum commitment. The emphasis will be on creating a safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, and learn through doing.
