Classes for Adults
< BACK TO CLASSES
Round House Theatre’s classes for adults welcome all actors, aspiring actors, and those interested in learning more about the art of theatre. Whether you are interested in becoming a better actor, being more confident interacting with your peers, or learning more about the process of theatre, there is a place for you in one of our adult classes.
Adult classes are open to students ages 16 and older unless otherwise noted.
All Classes held at the Round House Theatre Education Center, 925 Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
Mondays Sept 14 - Oct 12
6:30pm - 9:30pm
$150
This class will provide students with the skills needed to perform dynamic, safe, and effective unarmed fights for the stage—from slapstick to martial arts. We’ll cover the foundation skills of rolling and falling, grabbing and slapping, punching and kicking, and everything else a superhero, secret agent, or working actor needs to know. Part 1 of the course focuses on technique, while Part 2 emphasizes performances and choreography for testing.
Students will explore functional movement, physical storytelling, as well as how to connect stage combat techniques to text, character, and intention. The course is open to absolute beginners, those who want a refresher or have a show coming up, and experienced stage combatants who hope to practice and improve their skills. The course follows the industry standards set by the Society of American Fight Directors. Those interested in testing with the Society of American Fight Directors will need to register for BOTH sections. Combat Sessions are taught by Casey Kaleba (Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors) of Tooth & Claw Combat Arts.
