Assistant Production Manager & Company Manager

The Assistant Production Manager/Company Manager provides support for all performance-related events by assisting the Production Manager and Artistic Department in supporting the company of all productions in the Round House Theatre season. This position is responsible for organizing travel, housing, and in-town transportation for all out-of-town artists. In addition, the Assistant Production Manager/Company Manager will assist in budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and artistic coordination/management for all productions to ensure their efficient, effective, and timely execution. The position will be based primarily at the Theatre in Bethesda but will also require some work at the Administrative Offices in Silver Spring and Production Facility in Rockville. Position will include significant weekend and evening hours.

Lead Carpenter

The Lead Carpenter will assist with the build, load-in, and strike of all scenic aspects of Round House Theatre productions and other programming. This position involves working from build drawings, supervising part-time carpenters, apprentices, interns, and volunteers, and to ensure the work aligns with the mission of the theatre. Additionally, the Lead Carpenter will help to maintain the highest levels of safety and cleanliness of the shop and storage spaces at both the Scene Shop and Theatre locations. This position is based primarily out of our scene shop in Rockville but will be required to work from our theatre in Bethesda as well as occasionally at the admin offices in Silver Spring. Position will include weekend and evening hours for productions, opening nights, and other theatre-related events.

Costume Shop Manager

The Costume Shop Manager will implement designs of the various Costume Designers engaged during the season. They will facilitate artistry at the highest possible level while working within the means of each production budget. As a member of the Production Team, they will collaborate to maintain a creative, supportive, and inviting environment for artists and staff. This position is based primarily out of our Administrative Offices in downtown Silver Spring but will be required to work from our theatre in Bethesda as well as the costume storage facility in Rockville. Position will include weekend and evening hours for productions, meetings, opening nights, and other theatre-related events.

PART-TIME

Box Office Associates

Round House Theatre seeks part-time Box Office Associates to work a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The box office is open Tuesday through Friday from 12pm to 5pm, with additional evening and weekend hours based on the performance schedule. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing customer service, single ticket and subscription sales, cash management, and other general administrative tasks as assigned by supervisor. Candidates must have good computer and phone skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. House Manager

The House Manager oversees the successful execution of show duties to ensure that patrons are comfortable and safe during, before, and after performances. This position is part of a team of part-time Front of House staff that provides knowledgeable, high-quality customer service to over 30,000 patrons annually. Usher at Round House Theatre

The Volunteer Ushers assist the Front of House team, providing high-quality customer service to over 30,000 patrons annually. Ushers greet patrons, show them to their assigned seats, help them navigate the building, and answer general questions about the show. Ushers create a welcoming space for our audiences and serve as ambassadors of the Round House brand. An engaging personality, even temperament, and appreciation of the performing arts preferred. Script Submissions

Round House is currently unable to accept or respond to unsolicited script submissions. We look forward to returning to an open submission process int he future, but are currently focused on the work of our commissioned writers and other existing relationships. 

INTERNSHIPS & APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS

Summer Theatre Education Student Internships Round House Theatre Education seeks Interns (age 17 or over) to work in our Summer camps for grades k-12. Ideal candidates are interested in Arts Education, enjoy students, and are team players. Internships are for 8-hour shifts between 8:45am-6pm, Monday through Friday, June 17 through August 23. Interns are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 weeks.  Interns provide support for professional teaching artists, learning to work with students, support and lead activities, and thrive in a theatre education classroom. A stipend of $250 a week is provided.  Housing is not provided. Interviews and hiring begin immediately. Round House Theatre actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to join us and influence our working practice. The internship program is a training program, and significant prior experience is not required.   APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED FOR THE SUMMER OF 2024.  Watch here for applications to open in January for the summer of 2025.


Teen Educator Program: Summer Internships For High School Students
The Teen Educator Program is a program that encourages students in Grade 9-12 to join the Round House Theatre Teaching Artists as classroom assistants. Teens build classroom management skills and learn to facilitate a theatre arts education experience.  Summer Teen Educators work for full weeks in our K-6 grade camps. Round House can provide documentation of hours worked so students can meet Student Service Learning requirements or internship hours.
